Ramah Navajo 2023 RAISE Grant BIA Route Reconstruction Process Project
ROAD UPDATES
The Ramah Navajo Department of Transportation (RNDOT) and project partners are committed to ensuring that this project promotes robust job creation and sustainable employment opportunities within the community. The project will support good-paying jobs directly related to construction, management, and maintenance of the improvements funded through the RAISE Grant.
In line with federal priorities, all employment practices connected to this project will fully respect workers’ rights to a free and fair choice to join or not join a union, in accordance with applicable labor laws. The project team encourages practices that uphold worker dignity, safety, and fair wages, while fostering local hiring whenever possible.
Where feasible, the project will include outreach to tribal members and local residents to fill positions in construction, inspection, and support services. Training and skill development opportunities may also be coordinated with tribal workforce programs to maximize long-term economic benefit to the community.
By advancing this project through a Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) delivery method, the Tribe will ensure that the contractor and subcontractors adopt transparent hiring practices, competitive wages, and workforce protections that contribute to stable employment and build capacity for future projects.
This commitment underscores the Tribe’s broader goal of not only improving transportation infrastructure but also ensuring that economic benefits stay within the community through fair, well-supported job creation.
